YEAR 2003

1.         Restructuring of the Ministry

    (i)     Ministries of Information, Youth and Sports, Culture and Tourism will be fused except the Department of Youth that will be merged with the Ministry of Women Affairs and Social Development.

           

   (ii)     The new Ministry of Information, Sports, Culture and Tourism will now have the following Departments:

 

(a)    Information Services

(b)    Finance and Administration

(c)    Arts and Culture

(d)    Sports Development.

  (iii)     The Ministry will also supervise the following Parastatals:

(a)   Tourism Board

(b)   Ondo State Radiovision Corporation (OSRC)

(c)   Hope Newspapers

(d)   Sports Council

(e)   Government Press.

 2.         Preparation of Ondo State Policy Documents on Information, Sports, Arts, Culture and Tourism

    (i)     Design of framework for preparation of documents

   (ii)     Draft for  Executive Council (EXCO) approval

  (iii)     Printing of approved version.

 3.         Effective Information Gathering, Processing and Dissemination

                (i)     Resuscitation of four Zonal Information Offices.

                           (a) Rehabilitation of buildings.

                           (b) Procurement of working tools, furniture and vehicles.

               (ii)     Production of Year 2004 Calendar and leaflets.

  (iii)     Participation in State Social Mobilization and Technical Committee/Child Rights Information Bureau. (SSOMTEC/CRIB)

 

4.         Revamping the Government Printing Press

                (i)     Staff and equipment audit (restructuring)

               (ii)     Upgrading of equipment and tools.

 

5.         Promotion of Tourism

    (i)     Making necessary contacts and compilation of calendar of cultural Festivals.

               (ii)     Packaging of tourist attractions centered around cultural festivals.

 

6.         Promotion of Sporting Activities

    (i)     Restructuring of the Sports Council

   (ii)     Participation in national competitions.

  (iii)     Organisation of local competitions.

  (iv)     Upgrading of equipment and working tools.

 

7.         Evolving Dynamic and Vibrant Radio/Television Stations

    (i)     Staff and equipment audit (restructuring)

   (ii)     Repair of generating sets at Irese and Orita Obele Stations.

  (iii)     Replacement of rehydrator for Radio.

 

8.         Re-invigoration of the Hope Newspapers

                (i)     Development of Website for Hope Newspapers.

   (ii)     Repair of swimming pool and construction of borehole to serve the pool. 

              (iii)     Remodeling of Akure Sports Stadium.

 

7.       Evolving Dynamic and Vibrant Radio/Television Stations

    (i)     Revamping the Cooling  System for AM, FM, TV, and TX Studios.

               (ii)     Retentioning of  Television and Radio Masts.

  (iii)     Continue upgrading of equipment and tools.

 

8.         Re-invigoration of  the Hope Newspapers

    (i)     Completion of the construction of additional office blocks and security post now at roofing level.

   (ii)     Installation of fifty (50) line PABX System.
