YEAR 2003

1.         Restructuring of the State Ministry of Health and Hospitals’ Management Board

 

    (i)     (i) Merging of the Departments of Primary Health Care and Disease Control into one department.

(ii)        Appointment of a full time Chairman for Hospitals’ Management Board.

  (iii)     The Department of Hospital Services, Planning, Research and Statistics in the HMB to operate through 3 Divisions  – Nursing, Pharmacy and Monitoring Services.

  (iv)     The Management of the Basic Health Centres with the LGAs will be through Ministry of Health, while management of Comprehensive Health Centres and the Hospitals’ will be through the Hospitals’ Management Board.    

2.         Preparation of Ondo State Health Policy Document

    (i)     Constitution of the drafting Committee.

   (ii)     Preparation of draft copy of the Policy document.

  (iii)     Submission of final document to the State EXCO.

  (iv)     Printing and Publication of the approved Health Policy Document.

 3.         Reviving the State Health Council

    (i)     Constitute and inaugurate the Council, by October 2003.

 4.         Development and Management of a Basic Health Centre in each of the 203 Wards in Collaboration with LGAs

                (i)     Identification of locations and existing facilities.

                   (ii)        Compilation of needs – staff, equipment and drugs.

 5.         Development and Management of 36 Comprehensive Health Centres in the State

    (i)     Identification of the 36 locations and existing facilities. 

   (ii)     Compilation of needs in terms of staff, equipment and drugs.

 6.         Development and Management of one General Hospital in each Local Government Area of the State

    (i)     Completion of on-going Hospital projects in Igbekebo, Bolorunduro and Iju/Ita-Ogbolu.

7.         Development of the State Specialist Hospital, Akure to a Standard Specialist Hospital             

    (i)     Compilation of needs for upgrading - equipment, staff etc.        

 8.         Establishment of State Diagnostic/Transfusion Centre at the State Specialist Hospital, Akure

    (i)     Compilation of needs.

 9.         Strengthening of Preventive Health Services

    (i)     Routine Immunisation – Ensure timely distribution of potent, adequate vaccines and conduct two rounds of Multiple Antigen Campaigns.

  1.    (ii)     Participation in Global Polio Eradication Initiative through National Immunization Days (NIDs).

  2.   (iii)     Procurement of HIV/AIDS kits and awareness campaign for Civil Servants, Health Workers, Teachers, Artisans, Traditional Rulers, Religious Leaders, Students and other target groups.

  3.   (iv)     Intensification of Roll-Back Malaria (RBM) initiative, procurement of Insecticide Treated Bed-Nets (ITN) and Pre-Packaged Anti Malaria Drugs (PPD).

  4.    (v)     Advocacy and Community Mobilization for Onchocerciasis Control activities.

  1.  (vii)     Restructuring of Health Rangers Scheme to also perform monitoring services.

10.       Capacity Building for New Health Plans
