YEAR 2003

 1.   Functional Re-organisation and Enhancement of Performance of the Ministry

 

    (i)     Restructure and furnishing of the offices of the Attorney-General, Solicitor-General and Directors.

   (ii)     Ensuring regular attendance at courts and prompt issuance of Legal Advice on Preliminary Investigation cases, and filing of outstanding information at the High Court.

  (iii)     Attendance at the Nigerian Bar Association annual convention.

  (iv)     Legal Year Dinner for Bench and

   (v)     Bar in Ondo State.

 

2.         Preparation of Policy on the Administration of Justice System in Ondo State

    (i)     Preparation of the work  plan for a workshop on the Administration of Justice.

   (ii)     Holding of the workshop between 23rd – 27th September, 2003.

  (iii)     Issuance of Communiqué of workshop and preparation of policy.

  (iv)     Presentation of policy to the Executive Council.

   (v)     Publication of approved policy.

 

3.         Setting up a Standard Law Library

    (i)     Renovation of Library.

   (ii)     Acquisition of law books, practice books and journals.

 

4.         Publication of Monthly Law Journal

    (i)     Preliminary work on the publication.

   (ii)     Setting up the Editorial Board and other organs.

 

5.         Provision of Infrastructure

    (i)     Provision of internet services.

   (ii)     Installation of Satellite Dish, Television etc.

  (iii)     Provision of Intercom to link offices within the Ministry

6.         Review, Update and Publication of the Laws of Ondo State

    (i)     Specialised training and retraining of Counsel in the Ministry of Justice and the Law Review Commission including attendance at conferences.

   (ii)     Recruitment of Lawyers for the Ministry of Justice and the Law Commission.

  (iii)     Purchase of two project vehicles for use in two of the eight Judicial Divisions.

  (iv)     Legal Year Dinner for Bench and Bar in Ondo State.

 

2.         Preparation of Policy on the Administration of Justice System in

            Ondo State

            Completed

3.         Setting up a Standard Law Library

    (i)     Acquisition of furniture for library.

   (ii)     Stocking library with  law books, practice books,  journals and other library materials.

4.         Publication of Monthly Law Journal

    (i)     Publication of maiden edition of Law journal.

   (ii)     Launching of publication and sale thereof.

 

5.         Provision and Renovation of Infrastructure in the Ministry

            Furnishing of the offices of legal officers.

 

6.         Review, Update and Publication of the Laws of Ondo State

    (i)     Holding of workshops, seminars and public hearing on the review, and update of the Laws of Ondo State.

   (ii)     Compilation of reports of workshops, seminars and public hearings

  (iii)     Presentation of reports to the Executive Council for deliberation.

9.        Establishment of the Public Advisory Bureau and the Office of the

           Public Defender

    (i)     Drafting of the bill by the Ministry of Justice.

   (ii)     Presentation of draft bill to the Executive Council.

  (iii)     Presentation of bill to the House of Assembly.

  (iv)     Setting up of the bureau.

  (iv)     Legal Year Dinner for Bench and Bar in Ondo State.

    (i)     Purchase of four project vehicles, two for two of the eight Judicial Divisions and one each for the Court of Appeal, Benin and the Supreme Court, Abuja.

   (ii)     Specialized training and retraining of Counsel in the Ministry of Justice and attendance at conferences.

  (iii)     Legal Year Dinner for Bench and Bar in Ondo State.
