YEAR 2003

1.   Functional Restructuring pf the Ministry of Women Affairs, Youth and Social Development

i.          Merging of Ministries of Women Affairs, Social Development and Department of Youth.

2.   Preparation of State Policy Document on Women, Youth and Social Development.

i.          Preparation of draft copy of the policy document.

ii.          Submission of final document to the State EXCO for approval.

iii.         Publication and circulation of policy document.

3.   Enhancement of Peoples’ Empowerment.

i.          Participation at Domestic (Odu’a) and National (Abuja, Kaduna & Lagos) Trade Fairs for development and promotion of local products.

ii.          Extension Services on Modern Bee-keeping.

iii.         Liaising  with donor agencies and development partners with a view to improving standard of Women, Youth and Children.

iv.         Implementation of provisions of Convention on Elimination of all Forms of Discrimination Against Women (CEDAW).

iii.         Planning and preparation of essential documents for women and Youth mobilization on Government Programmes, (Poverty Alleviation, HIV/AIDS, Prevention of Harmful Traditional Practices and Breast-feeding etc).

iv.         Identification and training of resource persons.

v.         Enlightenment on the Ministry’s programmes on Radio

and Television.

vi.         Mobilization and Sensitization of women in all Local Government        areas.

vii.        Mobilization and Sensitization of youths in Local Government areas.

5.   Promotion of Child Rights and Development.

i.          Registration of Day Care Centres in all Local Government Areas.

ii.          Design standards and supervision programme for Day Care Centres.

iii.         Re-activation and resuscitation of the State Child Rights Implementation/Monitoring Committee.

iv.         Implementation of Provisions of Child Rights Convention (CRC).

6.   Promotion of Community Development

i.          Formation of Community Development Committees in all Local Government Areas.

ii.          Formation of Community Development Associations in all Wards.

iii.         Liaising with other agencies of Government to package Community Development Projects and Programmes.

7.   Capacity Building

i.          Commencement of upgrading of the Ondo State Co-operative College, Akure to a Professional and National Diploma awarding institution.

ii.          Continuation of construction of the Community Development Training School at Idoani.

1.         Functional Restructuring of the Ministry of Women Affairs, Youth and Social Development

i.          Fencing of the Ministry’s properties (Remand Home, Akure).

ii.          Asphalt laying of the Ministry’s premises (Office Complex,    

          Igbatoro Road, Akure).

iii.          Renovation and rehabilitation of the Ministry’s properties.

2.         Preparation of State Policy Document on Women, Youth and Social Development

i.          Circulation of policy document continues.

3.         Enhancement of Peoples’ Empowerment

i.          Participation at Domestic (Odu’a) and National (Abuja, Kaduna & Lagos). Trade Fairs for development and promotion of local products.

ii.          Participation at Specialized Exhibition for the Disabled.
